To mark the 100th anniversary of the Institute for Ethnic Studies, we designed a commemorative visual identity that bridges a century of research on ethnicity with a contemporary graphic expression.
The anniversary represents more than just a number – it symbolizes a hundred years of knowledge, dedication, and community building.
The design concept was built around the number 100. The composition of one and two zeroes transforms into a symbol representing spaces of encounter, interconnection, and exploration. The circular forms evoke movement, the circulation of knowledge, and the flow of ideas. Their modular nature allows for stacking, fragmentation, and repetition – creating a modern, flexible visual system.
The visual language is rooted in the idea of community – individual parts form a whole, expand and interweave, echoing the Institute’s mission to study ethnic communities and promote coexistence.
We refreshed the existing visual identity with a festive, commemorative presence. The modular system offers playfulness across formats – from posters and brochures to invitations, promotional materials, and gifts.
The result is a contemporary, recognisable visual signature that honours the past while speaking the language of the present.
